Unmasking the Signs: A Comprehensive Guide to Ovarian Cancer Awareness — Likitha Kanduru IX B

Updated: Jun 2, 2023

Hello Everyone! With the International Day of Action for Women's Health coming up, today we will talk about Ovarian Cancer. What is Ovarian Cancer? As the name implies, it affects the ovaries, areas of the oviduct, and the peritoneum. Abnormal cells in the ovary begin to grow and multiply rapidly, eventually forming tumors. Depending on the type of cell where the cancer starts, it can be classified into 3 types:

  1. Epithelial Ovarian Carcinomas

  2. Germ Cell tumors

  3. Stromas Cell tumors.

Symptoms include nausea, abdominal pain, back pain, constipation, bloating, and indigestion. This disease mostly affects women in their 50s and 60s, though few women in their forties have also been diagnosed. It is important to raise awareness and take action against such diseases. Donating to charities is a great help to patients who cannot afford chemotherapy and expensive surgeries.

"If you check on the health of a woman, you check on the health of the society."
