Gender remuneration differentials and workplace gender discrimination are two major human injustices facing the world. Michelle Obama has once said, “No country can ever truly flourish if it stifles the potential of its women and deprives itself of the contributions of half its citizens,” and indeed gender pay gaps resulting from systematic prejudices exist even today. Nonetheless, women remain paid lesser than men in similarly ranked positions continuing rather cycles of economical vulnerability and gender disparity.
Gender disparity in the workplace not only costs organizations money, but also manifests itself in the form of stereotyping, few promotions, and underrepresentation of women in managerial roles. Women belong in all locations where decisions are made, as stated by Ruth Bader Ginsburg, and this remark highlights how important it is to include women in positions of decision-making. The different types of oppression have an impact on organizational and societal advancement in addition to professional development, necessitating collective social action. The UAE’s Equal wage laws, welcoming workplace environments, and encouraging programs like flexible work schedules are all necessary to advance women in a variety of professions. Ensuring women have equal opportunities to prosper professionally and economically requires legislative support, business openness, and educational opportunities.
Equal pay for equal work not only clears a moral agenda but also enriches economic profitability and social stability. Thus, developing gender-free working environments enhances people’s abilities to develop economy actively and contribute to social progress. The time for talk is over, the time for change is now, it’s time to make policies change, for work environments to change, where woman and man alike can not only work but have meaningful careers and where women don’t have to sacrifice their dreams in order to start a family.
